Could it be spring? Or is it excitement for this year’s ZenTri and Solstice Festival Community Celebration?? If you’re not feeling the excitement yet, maybe this slideshow from last year’s inaugural event will inspire you to claim your spot now….
It’s finally here! Even if the weather turns cold and unseasonable one more time, rest assured that longer, warmer days are just around the corner. Start dusting off that athletic gear and turn your mind to June, when we will gather at Robin Hills Farm for the second annual ZenTri with Breathe Yoga!!
Hi there, yoga runners and friends of nature! We’re busy working behind the scenes to plan the 2017 Summer Solstice Festival and ZenTri but want to take a moment to announce our 2017 event date. Save this date!!
Friday, June 23, 2017 – 5:30 – 9:00 PM
Yep, we’re meeting in the evening this year, freeing up your weekend and taking advantage of our longer days. Keep posted for more details as we have them.
Our ZenTri is creeping toward capacity! We only have a limited number of spots for the 5K run/walk (and all the goodies that accompany that) so sign up now if you’re planning to join us! Yoga and meditation will still be open to all but the full event is filling up fast. Don’t miss out on joining us for our inaugural event!
Sunday’s celebration of the summer solstice is also a celebration of community, more important than ever. In that spirit and with much gratitude, we are pleased that the accomplished Claire Casselman is lending her talents and skills to the meditation portion of our ZenTri. Claire has been a welcome guest at Breathe Yoga, offering her calm and reassuring guidance to our weekly meditation group from time to time and we are delighted that we can bring her graceful eloquence to a larger audience at our inaugural Summer Solstice Festival. Thank you, Claire!
The Summer Solstice Festival has teamed up with the amazing crew at Greg Sadler Photography to offer FREE digital downloads of your event photos, available after the race. Greg and his team are well-known and sought after event photographers, capturing the joy of the sport as well as the beauty of the course. We are so pleased he is available to be at our event, offering his services and skills to our ZenTri participants.
To see some examples of his sports photography work, click HERE. (Although, if you’ve participated in any area sporting event in the past dozen years or so, you likely already have a few of his images hanging around the house – or showing up on your Facebook page.)
Yet another reason to sign up NOW – before the price increase.
One lucky ZenTri participant will walk away with a 10-pack of studio classes from Breathe Yoga! No need to limit your yoga practice to the day’s events – Breathe Yoga has a wide variety and number of studio classes available daily, suitable for beginners as well as seasoned yogis. Running before class is always an option, too, and Breathe Through It, the Breathe Yoga running club meets twice a week to facilitate that. You can find the group on Facebook – HERE.

Need another reason to join us for the ZenTri on June 19th? In anticipation of their Dragon Boat Festival on August 6th, Robin Hills will be raffling off a Dragon Boat kit to one lucky winner!
All registrants for the ZenTri will be considered for the raffle. The winner will receive the boat kit, which includes a 2-part assembly class beginning June 22nd ($175 value). More info about the festival and the boat building class can be found by clicking on the image below.
Registration for the ZenTri is open at the early bird pricing for a few more days, until June 9th. Register today and you could find yourself the proud owner of a DIY Dragon Boat!
We’re just over two weeks away from our inaugural Solstice Festival Celebration and ZenTri and we have some exciting partnerships to announce! Athleta (specifically of Briarwood Mall) has come on board as photo sponsor for our event, ensuring that all ZenTri participants will have access to free digital downloads of their race day pics! Greg Sadler Photography will be on the scene, taking photos along the course as well as the start and finish lines, and will provide a link to the digital images after the event.
We’re very pleased to be working with both of these businesses and are excited for what they will bring to participants of the event. But we’re not done! Stay tuned for what more we have in store….
If you haven’t registered yet, get a move on! Price increases in one week, on June 9th!
I had the great good fortune to preview the Robin Hills 5k trail today, runner friends, and I am SO EXCITED for our upcoming collaborations for some running and yoga! Besides our Solstice ZenTri, we are hosting a chance to run the course for FREE on May 15th, instead of our usual Breathe Yoga Running Club workout. We’ll gather at the farm at 8:30 AM, and head out on our run after some short instructions on the nature of the course – don’t want anyone lost out there! I’ll lead some yoga stretches after the run, to cool down and stretch it out. Registration for the May 15th event is free but please register using the button below so we know how many to expect.
Now, on to the course!
It was a beautiful morning to set out on the trail, which covers a great deal of the Robin Hills property and provides some spectacular natural views. Pictures from the course follow, with brief descriptions.
If you’ve never run trail before, this course is a great starting point. Not too technical but definitely not a road race. You’ll most likely want to adjust your pace and watch your footing as we cover a variety of different terrains, including some mulched areas, dirt road and grassy field edges. Easy on the joints and good for the soul! Experienced trail runners will appreciate finding another route to add to their outings. Walkers are most welcome, too!
There are a number of water crossings that may or may not be assisted by our May 15th preview run, so wear your older running shoes and breathable socks! I mis-stepped early on and took on some water but didn’t find it too uncomfortable. The trail was too distracting, both in that I had to watch where I was going and I wanted to see what surrounded me. We’ll definitely make sure the tricky turns are marked and will have course marshals at the June 19th event.
Overall, it’s pretty amazing to have access to this kind of trail, just north of our hometown of Chelsea. I look forward to spending many runs, walks and hikes on it as the years progress and I’m excited that our participants will be some of the first to break it in!
